Location: Germany (Hybrid – highly flexible)

Reports to: CEO (Engineering & Technology Division)
Package: Six-figure total compensation + bonus + company car (depending on seniority & profile)


About the Opportunity

Viridis Talent is partnering with a well-established and rapidly expanding EPC+ provider in the renewable energy sector. The company delivers large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems and hybrid PV + BESS solutions across Germany and is now strengthening its senior commercial leadership team.

The business operates with strong engineering capability, competitive turnkey pricing, and a unique ability to support clients not only with EPC delivery but also with financing and offtake structuring, a significant USP in the market.

With a growing reference list and a strong pipeline of projects across Germany, the organisation is now seeking a Head of Sales – BESS EPC to lead commercial expansion and build a scalable long-term pipeline.


Role Overview

This is a senior commercial role focused on external sales, new business development, and long-term pipeline growth.

Your primary KPI: Drive external sales (approx. €10m p.a.) while expanding the order pipeline year over year.

In addition to owning customer relationships, you will oversee and grow a Sales Team (initially 2+ direct reports) and report directly to the CEO of the Engineering division.

With full nationwide responsibility, you will engage diverse B2B customer segments including utilities, small IPPs, farmers, and institutional investors with large PV asset portfolios.


Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the nationwide BESS EPC sales function

  • Drive new business acquisition to achieve annual sales targets (~€10m p.a.)

  • Grow and manage a Sales Team (2+ people), including coaching and performance development

  • Define commercial strategies, pricing approaches, and go-to-market plans

  • Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and relevant forums

Market & Customer Engagement

  • Build strong relationships across key B2B customer segments:

    • Utilities

    • Small IPPs

    • Farmers/agricultural asset owners

    • Investment funds with large PV portfolios

  • Identify, qualify, and close EPC opportunities across all regions of Germany

  • Maintain a strong, sustainable customer pipeline and consistent order flow

Pipeline Development & Tendering

  • Lead tender preparation, proposals, commercial negotiations, and closings

  • Ensure the 2027 pipeline and long-term funnel are secured

  • Provide accurate forecasting, reporting, and CRM updates

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Project Development, and Procurement for competitive offers

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work directly with the CEO and senior leadership team on commercial strategy

  • Coordinate with internal engineering and technical teams to ensure solution alignment

  • Interface with project development, procurement, and finance for integrated proposal delivery

  • Provide strategic market insights and competitor analysis


Candidate Profile

Required Experience

  • Strong background in BESS EPC sales, Solar EPC sales, or large-scale renewable energy commercial roles

  • Proven success in acquiring new business and developing long-term sales pipelines

  • Experience working with utilities, IPPs, developers, and renewable energy investors

  • Familiarity with standalone BESS, hybrid PV + BESS, or EPC turnkey solutions (highly advantageous)

Technical Competence

  • Understanding of grid connection processes, system sizing, or technical concept design is beneficial but not essential

  • Ability to lead commercial discussions involving both technical and financial considerations

Leadership Skills

  • Capable of managing and developing a small team (2+ direct reports)

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities

  • Comfortable with frequent travel across Germany

  • Fluent in German and English
